I. Professional Development Goal
In looking at my teaching I have noticed that my classroom management skills are not up to par. I believe that when I first arrived in the classroom I wasn’t stern enough on how I wanted the students to act. I should have set up and explained all the rules and regulations instead of telling them that I was fallowing the same rules as my CT. I believe this if I would have step up rules and regulations that were clear or at least reiterated my CT’s rules and the consequences my class would run a lot smoother right now.
With improvement in my classroom management skills can improve learning in many ways. First the full period can be used for educational purposes. As it improves less time would be “wasted” on getting students back on task or just having students off task. It will improve my teaching in that all the students will have a chance to understand and learn the topic on hand. Management will also improve the flow of the class as a whole with not getting off task and have to optimal learning opportunity.

Collaboration with other teacher on ideas/strategies is a nice way to improve my classroom management. In just entering the beginning of the teaching career I have a lot of questions about classroom management as well as being extremely inexperienced. With collaborating with other teachers especially experienced teachers, where they can give me new ideas and can let me know what works for them as well as what hasn’t worked for them. Classroom observations can be extremely helpful. Having another teacher sit in on my classes to see how I am handling the classroom, as a whole and how present myself to the students would be huge. With having someone else watching what you are doing in a first person point of view is important as well. They can point out problems that they are noticing as well as giving their opinion on what they would have done in certain situations instead of what strategy I used. Within classroom observations is myself observing other teachers classes to see how they use classroom management in their classes first hand. In this point of view I would be thinking of what I would do as is watch them deal with certain situations in their own way/style.
